What do your cattle eat?
The short answer is their diet is formulated by a cattle nutritionist and primarily consists of grass, hay and spent brewer’s grains from local brewers in Central Texas. We’ve also fed corn, sunflowers, cottonseed and other plant byproducts of farming operations in the past. The cattle love these sustainable feeds. We never feed our cattle antibiotics, growth promoters, or artificial hormones.
Why did you decide to raise Wagyu?
We’ve raised many different types of cattle. We chose Wagyu because we primarily sell to folks in our community. If you’re going to take their money and run into them in town, you better provide something great! Wagyu beef is the best beef we’ve ever tried. Besides, we aren’t great salespersons, and you don’t need to be to sell a Wagyu steak, jerky or beef sticks! Wagyu beef has health benefits to it and that’s another bonus for us!
Do you own your animals?
The short answer is yes, but we do buy calves from other small ranches that do something similar to what we do. These ranches must have the same philosophy as we do or are willing to adopt our requirements. Some small ranches don’t have the ability or desire to feed cattle all the way until they are ready for processing. Selling to us gives them more money than they would probably get from the local sale barn. Here’s a secret; we sell our own calves to other ranches too, usually when they are short on beef and need to fill an order. It’s part of being a good neighbor and doing the best you can to be helpful.
How is the beef processed?
Our beef (both raw and finished products such as jerky and beef sticks) is processed at Texas USDA-inspected facilities.
Do you ship raw beef?
Presently we ship only finished shelf-stable products (jerky and beef sticks). We are a small producer and can only produce enough ribeyes, NY strips, etc. to supply our community. All products are shipped using UPS. The cost will be calculated at the time of your order.
Can I return the products if I don’t like them?
No, these are food products, so we cannot take them back once delivered. Refund requests are determined on a case-by-case basis. However, if your complaint is “I wish they tasted like rice cakes,” you will not be getting a refund!
